James A. West, CFA

Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer, Equity Strategies

James West serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Principal Street Partners since 2008. Bringing with him more than 24 years of experience in asset management, he currently leads the firm’s business strategy and oversees the Principal Street portfolio of investment strategies. In addition to oversight and long-term strategy, James also oversees the day-to-day implementation of the firm’s client experience, providing decades of insight to the firm’s hundreds of investors. James also leads the firm’s Management Committee.

Prior to Principal Street, James was the Chief Investment Officer for Green Square Capital, overseeing $3 billion in AUM at its peak.  In prior roles, James served as Senior Vice President and Trust Investment Manager for the West Tennessee, Nashville and Mid-Atlantic areas for First Tennessee Bank, where he managed approximately $900 million in assets.

James received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Virginia. James is a CFA charter holder.
